Man it's been a hot week! How have you been doing this week while a large majority of the U.S. has been battling an earlier than expected heat wave?!
When it comes to little ones, fun activities that include water and ice can be a good way to distract them while also keeping them safe in the hot weather.
Here are some of my favorite ways to keep my kid's cool & occupied this Summer!
1. Reusable Water Balloons - Nearly any kid you talk to loves playing with water balloons, but I hate that comes with conventional balloons--not to mention the fact that you very rarely can find every single broken piece to clean up. It's bad for the environment and any animals that may choose to snack on them.
Last year I found magnetic reusable water balloons and our kids have had so much fun with them! Less mess and better for Mother Earth!
We found ours on Amazon last year, but I've started seeing them pop up at smaller local stores now too! Check your local toy store first to support a small business near you if you can!
2. Ice Painting - Earlier this week I dumped a bunch of ice in our water table and let the girls watercolor and finger paint on the ice. It kept them cool and occupied which is a combo that I can get behind any day.
3. Water Squirters - Super Soakers (if you grew up in the 80s/90s then you can still picture these commercials), water cannons or even these super fun balls from biggest little that are perfect for smaller hands! Anything that squirts water is a must in our house!
4. Homemade Ice Pops - Sure, there are a lot of lower sugar ice pops on the market these days, but it's pretty simple to make your own. Plus, you can include your kids in the action by letting them choose the fruits and veggies you put in (yes, you can put veggies in them too!).
I'm thinking about making some of these flavors this weekend with my girls.
